Explore our kids electric scooters in Australia to find an option that matches your child's needs.
How to Choose an Electric Scooter for Kids
Before choosing an electric scooter for kids, consider how comfortably your child can handle the scooter and whether its features suit their needs.
-
Age and height: Check the recommended age range and make sure your child can comfortably reach the handlebars and controls. Adjustable-height handlebars can be useful as children grow.
-
Speed and control: Consider whether your child can manage acceleration, steering, and braking. Speed settings can help families choose a model that better matches a child's riding experience.
-
Weight and design: Think about how easy the scooter is to handle, carry, and store. A foldable design can be practical for families with limited storage space, while a seated model may suit children who prefer a different riding position.
-
Battery range: Choose a scooter with enough range for your planned riding sessions. Actual battery performance varies with rider weight, terrain, speed, and riding conditions.

Which Kids Electric Scooter Is Right for Your Child?
Different children benefit from different features. When comparing an electric kids scooter, consider whether lightweight handling, adjustable height, or a seated riding option matters most to your family.
iK3: Lightweight and Easy to Handle
Designed for kids aged 6–14, the iK3 features three speed modes of 5, 10, and 16 km/h, a dual braking system, solid tyres, and a foldable design weighing around 8 kg. It is a practical option for families looking for a lightweight scooter with different speed settings and convenient storage.
B2Pro: Adjustable Height and Added Stability
The B2Pro features adjustable-height handlebars, a three-wheel anti-tip design, and tilt-to-turn steering. These features make it worth considering for younger children who need a scooter that suits their height and offers a different steering experience.
EK8: A Seated Riding Option
The EK8 features a 2-in-1 design with a seat, giving children the option of seated riding. It is worth considering for families looking for a kids electric scooter with a different riding position.
Are Electric Scooters Suitable for Beginners?
An electric scooter can be an enjoyable introduction to riding when the model suits the child's abilities and is used in an appropriate setting. Children who are new to electric scooters need time to learn how the throttle, steering, and brakes work.
-
Start with the basics: Practise starting, turning, slowing down, and stopping under adult supervision.
-
Choose a suitable practice area: Begin on a flat, open surface where riding is permitted, away from traffic and pedestrians.
-
Build confidence gradually: Keep early practice sessions short and avoid busy areas or steep slopes until your child can control the scooter reliably.
Always follow the manufacturer's age and usage guidance. Adult supervision is particularly important for younger or inexperienced riders.
Safety Tips for Kids Riding Electric Scooters
Protective equipment and regular checks are important before every ride. A properly fitted helmet is essential for kids riding electric scooters, while knee pads, elbow pads, and wrist guards can provide extra protection against scrapes and impacts during a fall. Explore kids electric scooter accessories to find suitable protective gear, and check that each item fits your child properly and is designed for their intended use. Before riding, check the brakes, tyres or wheels, handlebars, and battery, and follow the manufacturer's charging and maintenance instructions.
Electric scooter laws in Australia vary by state and territory, including rules about minimum age and where private scooters may be used. Before taking your child out, check the current rules for your location rather than assuming that public footpaths or shared paths are permitted for every scooter.
Kids Electric Scooter FAQs
What age is an electric scooter for kids suitable for?
The suitable age depends on the specific model, your child's height and coordination, and their ability to follow safety instructions. For example, the iK3 is listed for ages 6–14. Always check the manufacturer's age guidance and assess whether your child can control the scooter safely.
How far can kids electric scooters travel on one charge?
The range depends on the model's battery, rider weight, terrain, speed, and riding conditions. Check the specifications for your chosen scooter and treat the stated range as a guide, since actual results may vary. For short recreational rides, you may not need the longest-range option available.
Is a kids electric scooter a good gift option?
Yes, a kids electric scooter can be a fun and engaging gift for birthdays, Christmas, or other special occasions. It encourages children to spend more time outdoors, enjoy active play, and develop coordination and balance as they learn to steer and control their ride.
